elson House B & B is open all year except for Dec. 24 & 25, Dec. 31 and January 1.

Children? The guest house is adult-oriented, gay-owned and people-friendly. Kids 16 years and over are welcome, if accompanied by a well-behaved parent.

Pets? "Ozzie", our Cairn Terrier, visits only the downstairs public rooms. Since every effort is made to keep guestrooms free of allergens, other pets cannot be accommodated.

Rates are seasonal and vary by room type. All of our rates include full Canadian breakfast, free local calls, wireless internet and off-street parking.

The chart below gives all of our annual rates. All rates are subject to change. Weekly discounts are available except in High Season.

Please ask if three persons wish to share a room; only certain rooms can accommodate three and there is a $50 surcharge/night.

Accommodations Taxes in Vancouver are currently the 10% BC Hotel Tax and the 5% federal Goods & Service Tax(GST). A new tax regime takes effect July 1, 2010 which will result in a slight reduction in taxes.

Reservations are taken very seriously. We have been in business for twenty years and earned the respect of our customers and community. Every room/night that you reserve represents 17% of our 6 room, family-owned establishment. Imagine booking 17 % of your local Marriott!

After Checking Availability, please use our toll-free phone or complete our secure and encrypted Reservation Request Form. Your messages will always be answered within 24 hours.

Two night minimum stays may apply on busy weekends. Please enquire.

Reservations are held by a one night deposit: cash, traveller's cheques or a charge to your Visa/MC. No personal cheques or money orders. In some circumstances(such as a booking of seven nights or more), a non-refundable deposit may be required.

Please note that your Reservation Request(even with credit card number) is not a reservation until we confirm.

Cancellations are taken just as seriously. We normally require a one night deposit to secure your reservation. To obtain a full refund, cancellations for any portion of your reservation must be made by email to the address below at least seven (7) days prior to the beginning of your reservation. After check-in, we request the courtesy of three days notice of any departure earlier than originally reserved.

Privacy is respected and protected by Nelson House B & B. Your personal contact information is solely for our own B & B use. Sensitive credit card information can be transmitted using our secure, high-encryption Reservation Request Form. We operate in compliance with federal and provincial privacy legislation.

Check-in Time is between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise arranged. Without prior arrangement, we might be out when you arrive! If you do run late, please give us a courtesy call(we worry). If you are already in town or arriving early, you are welcome to drop bags with us in the morning.

Check-out Time is 12:00 noon. Please enquire concerning complimentary luggage storage.

Parking is off-street and included in your room rate. As most of the street parking is Resident Permit Only, please pull up temporarily and we will point out our private parking area.

For Business, we are a fifteen minute walk from the Vancouver Convention Centre and all downtown hotel meeting rooms. Be sure to ask us about our own Convention rates.

Wireless internet access is freely available throughout the B & B. There is also a broadband high speed line in the living room for your laptop. Two guestrooms, Vienna and Shangri-La, are equipped with desks. Something urgent? We can send your fax or do up a few copies.  No problem.  

Breakfast is a generous example of  Canadian cuisine, friendly chatter and heaps of hospitality. Healthy, local and organic ingredients are used to prepare our yummy home-baking, fresh fruit selections and delicious main offerings.

For early risers, coffee, tea, juice & milk join a self-serve buffet of baked goods, cereal & fruits. From 9 to 10:30 AM, we also serve a hot entree that will vary daily. A few examples are scrambled eggs & Bavarian sausage, Swiss cheese & asparagus omlets, challah French toast with creamy orange sauce and our famous Eggs Nelson with hollandaise.

Dietary restrictions are gladly accommodated with prior notice. Our home kitchen is unable to prepare individual fast order dishes.

Smoking is permitted outside on the front porch, in the garden or on the private decks of two guestrooms (Sailor's & Shangri-La). We provide unscented tealight candles for ambience. No guest incense or other candles please.

A clean, green B & B: Yes - we reduce bags and packaging in all our consumer purchases, reuse towels until you indicate that it's time for a freshly laundered one, recycle household waste and compost garden waste.

We offer free, twenty-four access to filtered water and ice. We are proud to point out that our new gas furnace is 96.7% efficient. The technology in the B & B's air filtration system is eight times more effective than hospital-grade HEPA filters. Amazingly, 99.98% of all allergens, down to the size of the common virus, are removed. Inside air is cleaner than outside!

Gift Certificates are available in all denominations and are valid for up to one year. The Shangri-La Suite is particularly popular for celebrating special occasions. Please enquire for details.
