Nelson House Bed & Breakfast Accommodations
Vancouver & Vallarta
ne of the fascinations of bed and breakfasts is the personal touch. We have all stayed in anonymous hotels - lamps bolted to the tables - only your tv for company. Wake up in a B & B and it should feel as unique as someone's home. At Nelson House B & B, your Canadian innkeeper, David, has travelled as a backpacker and lived abroad as a diplomat. His American partner, O'Neal, is a native Texan who emigrated to Canada's Pacific coast. While respectful of its heritage, we know that this century-old house now reflects us.
As corner rooms, all of our lodgings are airy and bright. Well-rested guests often compliment the quality of beds and linens. Every room is equipped with a hairdryer.
The "Hollywood" room (pictured above) is a sunny, art-deco tribute to the glitz and glamour of the original. The bed is a top of the line, queen-sized Serta "Cool Action Gel" memory-foam. The ensuite bathroom, with red brick, brass fittings and the glow of glass brick is truly fit for a Star. Besides being fun, the room reminds us that Vancouver is a major television and film hub. Featured here are a flat-screen cable HDTV plus DVD/VCR and a fabulous old movie collection. Prepare cocktails at your mini-bar and camera...action! Currently CAD.$98(+ tax)/nt. CHECK OUR AVAILABILITY CALENDAR and view upcoming rates.
The "Bombay" room(pictured left) is for Raj romantics. It is David's homage to British India and things done properly! This spacious main floor room features a queen bed, a large desk, comfy armchairs, Edwardian wainscoting, a built in chest of drawers, ceiling fan, bay window and original stained glass. There is a flat-screen cable HDTV for your viewing pleasure. Lastly, an antique, clawfoot tub(with shower)in the ensuite bathroom is the perfect place for a "G & T" and a long soak after the hunt. Currently CAD.$98(+ tax)/nt. CHECK AVAILABILITY CALENDAR.
The "Cabin" is where you sleep like a lumberjack and that's okay! Sit by the warmth of the stove in an old pine rocker, a mini-fridge for the beer, flat-screen cable HDTV for the game - what more? There's a comfy queen deluxe and a full(fold in the middle type)sofabed. The ensuite bathroom features an Emily Carr-inspired stained glass and wraparound wall mural. This woodsy Canadian experience will have you dreaming of Mounties. Currently CAD.$98(+ tax)/nt. CHECK AVAILABILITY.
"Vienna" (pictured below) overlooks our front garden. A flowering vine clambers romantically up to the windowsill and adds to the room's Old World charm. The European, antique brass bed is Queen-sized. Old-fashioned ceiling fan, mahogany desk & other furnishings complete the ambience. Only a cable, flat-screen TV intrudes from this century. It is also more budget conscious, with a lighted mirror & vanity sink in the room and a hallbath shared with our Sailor's room. At the present time, only CAD.$78(+ tax)/nt. for single occupancy or CAD.$88(+)/nt. for double. CHECK AVAILABILITY.
"Sailor's" is simple & shipshape. Our smallest room easily accommodates a queen bed, vintage steamer trunk, a small desk & chair. A cable flat-screen TV hangs from the "yardarm". There is a lighted mirror & vanity sink in the room and a hallbath shared with our Vienna room. Enjoy your own deck with afternoon sun and neighbourhood views. Currently just CAD.$78(+ tax)/nt. for single occupancy or CAD.$88(+)/nt for double. A two night consecutive stay is required for this room, except in Low Season. CHECK AVAILABILITY HERE.

Our travel-themed rooms are very tongue in cheek. Here is a video review of Nelson House B & B from a prize-winning young filmmaker who recently stayed with us.
"Best gay-friendly property - Nelson House. Breakfast takes a gourmet approach with finger-licking mains such as Swiss cheese and asparagus omlets. Close to Robson St., Stanley Park and Barclay Heritage Square."

"We had a wonderful time at your condo in PV. It was perfect for my husband and me. The location is perfect. We loved the sound of waves crashing as we fell asleep. We walked everywhere--- plenty to explore, do, eat, and drink on every street corner!! We watched the sunset from the rooftop patio every night. The condo is immaculate, simple. The staff was very friendly. Thank you!!"
